ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Harry Salmi

As a professional painter, I like the feeling of freedom that I can experience again and again with my new works. I hope the feeling is transmitted to you as well.

"Painting is a fascinating and liberating process where I can combine different techniques and expressions of acrylic painting. I enjoy painting when I draw a thick layer of paint on the canvas. The use of acrylic spray, gel, and marker balances the lines, designs, and tones of the work in harmony. My abstract work 'Growth', which is dear to me, reflects the importance of nature for us Finns now and in the future. Let's take care of the forests, and enjoy nature's products and fresh and clean water and air. Finnish summer cottagers do know. A sustainable partnership between man and nature is important. My job is to enjoy what I am doing and be fully involved in it."

Harry Salmi gets excited and focuses on his work at the moment on the expression of modern and contemporary abstract art and neo-graffiti. It is the window through which he reflects his life and work as a visual artist. He combines acrylic technique tools and looks for new ways of visual expression and contrasts. Harry paints thin and thick layers, energetic and wild rhythms, and visual stories.

In his works, Harry reflects on the importance of Finnish nature to his work as a visual artist, being a human being as a painter from Lahti, and encounters between people and respect.

Harry is an expert, experimenter, and master of new acrylic techniques. He paints with acrylic markers, -spray, -inks, -heavy-body gel, -diluters and -tube paints.

Harry spends his free time, especially in the summer, at his family's summer cottage on the shore of Lake Isojärvi, Central Finland. He feels that the time spent there relaxes and strengthens his creativity and brings contrast to hectic city life. Harry has also been teaching visual arts part-time for seven years.

Harry lives peacefully with his wife and three-year-old daughter and works in Lahti, Finland. Harry is grateful for what he has, thank God. Many solo and group exhibitions in Finland and also abroad in Malaga, Venice Tokyo Japan, and in the California USA. "My artist's journey is making art and being a Nordic artist in Europe. The purpose of my message is freedom during the painting process.
