ARTIST STATEMENT:
Daniel Kanow
My art represents the ethos of adversity and resilience. I build multi-layered artworks, for both landscapes and abstractions with aggressive and energetic mark-making, applying large amounts of paint, and using pallet knives, large brushes, and other non-traditional instruments in both additive and subtractive methods to construct and deconstruct my compositions. I work with layers of depth and translucency to build a rich and visual narrative history.
