Hand Stitched Thread on Commercial Textile
Original Art Work
2009-2016
Description: After a long hiatus from this series, completion of Fractured ‘Gello #2 brings this series back into the recent arena of completed artworks. Viewers are drawn in to the center of this artwork. It is a flowing together of the individual pieces and stitches which reflects the confluence definition of coming together to one place. There is a natural pull, even from a distance, that brings viewers closer to view the details.
Constructing the ground and fracturing the piece was the smoothest part of the entire process in 2009. Developing the intricate hand stitching design took several years of contemplation with the artwork hanging on my design wall. Finally, in September of 2015, the design concept came to life and required almost 600 hours of intense hand stitching to complete.
