ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Mary Ann Nelson
Mary Ann was born in Massachusetts, raised in Southern California and currently resides in Aliso Viejo.
Her love of art was inspired by the many varied methods she encountered as she began her studies at University of California Los Angeles. She worked as a Technical Illustrator for many years and then subsequently as a free-lance artist. She studied oil painting and worked in that medium for several years but discovered that it didn't suit her artistic expression. After refocusing her studies to watercolor, she knew she had found her preferred method. As she discovered the broad spectrum of rich, vibrant results that were available to achieve through the challenging yet flexible methods of watercolor painting, she settled upon working exclusively in this medium.
Mary Ann's work has been displayed in various galleries including the Salt Lake City Art Center, Eccles Gallery, Bountiful-Davis Art Gallery, Brushworks Gallery and Omar's Gallery in Newport Beach. Her watercolors are in numerous private collections throughout the United States. Among noted private collectors are the Davis Family in Utah, who have one of the foremost private collections of fine art in the State. She has been privileged to be a contributing artist to the Salt Lake Chapter of Ducks Unlimited Annual Auction. In association with Art Beats Publishing Company, she has several original works in print which were exhibited at the New York Art Expo 1991, as well as the L. A. Art Expo 1991.Her work has been well accepted throughout Europe and Asia. Mary Ann had also been chosen as a featured artist at their Annual Gala December Art Auction and Concert for a nationally known Tustin based organization for businesses called Priority Living.
She continues her watercolor adventure broadening her techniques and subject matter.
