ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Christy Linton

Christy Linton is an American painter whose formal education is a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, but life's education of a diverse upbringing, exposure to painting through the women in her life, and fortunate to have traveled and experienced many different cultures, have all truly broadened her creative mind. Living along the Pacific Coast for over 20 years evokes a deep tranquil connection that drives Christy to capture that feeling forever in her artwork. Her process begins with a subtle calm color palette, then deciding whether or not to add texture with recycled odds and ends, or paper, clay, netting, fabrics,  and/or acrylic mediums. The subject is decided upon with either an intuitive evolution or one in which it is planned from a memory, photo, or commissioned. Sand and ocean water are always mixed in for a tangible gift from the sea, which is the artist's primary muse. There is a harmonious blend of techniques, conventional and non-conventional tools, building layers upon layers with an array of mediums, such as ink, acrylic wash, pastel, oil stick, and almost always gold or silver leaf.

The journey that brought Christy back to her artistic roots was one of transforming suffering into something meaningful, which has led to a life of art therapy, fulfillment, and gratitude.

This love of the ocean and nature moves Christy to use sustainable products. For example, recycled products or sustainably sourced fibers, water-based inks, paints and varnishes, or wax. They are easier to clean and reduce the need for harsh solvents.
