DESCRIPTION:This piece illustrates the way I view life, and how when I look at normal things my mind transforms them into a much more illusionary idea. The top left of the piece has my eye painted, to hint that the painting exists through my perspective.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Talya Akpinar is a young artist and a Bachelor of Architecture student minoring in Entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California. She enjoys creating her works with any medium that inspires her and her pieces have the common imaginative and colorful character that is noticeably unique to her. She is passionate about expressing her fantastical thoughts and cultural experiences onto canvas in a vivid and whimsical style. She has always believed in two things; that a person must always protect their inner child, and that everything in life happens for a reason. Art is her favorite form of expression and even though she reflects her most vulnerable self in her pieces, she hopes that people will perceive the joy of life embodied in them and smile.
Her works showcase sights and motifs from Istanbul where she spent most of her life, infused with glimpses of cultural experiences surrounding her in LA, with an abundance of details and hidden surprises that are a treat for the sharp-eyed.
The “Awesomeness” slogan embedded in some of her most notable works, is a playful yet sentimental tribute to her childhood, a word she invented as a little girl to endearingly describe the things that gave her the greatest joy.
