ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Barbara Nathanson
Education: B.A., M.A. in Fine Art, California State University Northridge. Although born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Barbara Nathanson has spent most of her life in the Los Angeles, California area. Her studio and residence are in Northridge, California.
Barbara is an artist who has also performed as a dancer, singer and actress on stage, television and film. She is a creator and member of Group 9 Art Collaborative whose methods have been studied and included in university collections. Her paintings have been exhibited extensively locally and abroad in various cities in Germany, France, Poland, Denmark, China, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, Armenia, The Philippines and Canada.
International solo exhibits: MU Gallery in Paris, France (2018) and Galleri Temporary Contemporary in Krakow, Poland (2002). Group exhibits: National Art Museum of Tokyo, Japan, Nagasaki Museum, Japan, Sejong Center and Busan Cultural Center, South Korea, Chonburi University, Bangkok, Thailand, Museo Del Puerto, Ensenada, Mexico, Modern Art Museum, Yerevan, Armenia, Gallery Sigvardson, Rodby, Denmark, and Atelier Grognard, Rueil-Malmaison, France.
Her work is included in private and corporate collections, the Women's Museum in Washington D.C. and in the permanent collection of Modern Art Museum of Yerevan.
Barbara has been a Co-Curator for Museum Contempo Gallery, Olympia, Washington, a Member of Board of Directors and the Gallery Manager for SITE Art Gallery, Los Angeles, Ca. a non-profit organization, an Artist in Residence for Akiba Academy, Los Angeles, California.
