Originally from Chicago, Il; artist Holden Van Howe has called Southern California home for over two decades. He initially studied Industrial Design at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. According to Holden: “I initially wanted to follow my passion and design cars, mainly sports cars, but ran out of money after two semesters at Art Center.”
Nonetheless, during the Great Recession, he refused to let the fundamentals of perspective and rendering which he picked up while in college go to waste. “I was bored, so I started painting” he adds.
Initially focusing on his passion for motor sports, his work now ranges to recording artists, NFL, NBA, landscapes, cartoon characters, and more; choosing acrylic on canvas as his main choice of medium.
Holden has helped to raise thousands for local charities in the Long Beach community by donating artwork for auction. Collectors of his work include Mario Andretti and the late Dan Gurney.
In addition, he is once again continuing his studies at California State University of Long Beach, where he is currently enrolled in the highly competitive Industrial Design program.
