San Diego based artist, Donna Hawley, has been creating her powerful pieces since childhood. Growing up in the Washington, DC area, she became fascinated with the diversity of its people and ideologies. She has traveled throughout the world and finds human connections the most interesting facet of her explorations. What most people say about her work is how much emotion it carries.
In her own words, “I am drawn to the underlying emotions we don’t mean to share. Our vulnerabilities are seen in the way we hold one side of our mouth, or perhaps a slight sadness in our eyes that betrays our desire to appear confident or happy. There is always another dialogue taking place. That’s the one I want to capture.”
