ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Kerry Swank
Kerry Swank is a native of Copenhagen,Denmark and has been a resident of California since 1979. She is an internationally renowned photographer whose works currently hang in the Pentagon, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA, and the Vatican.
Kerry is recognized as a leading black and white photographer on the West Coast, having received numerous accolades for her work. She has enjoyed working with a variety of people including influential business leaders and prominent government and church officials.
Despite her many successes, Kerry felt unfulfilled as a Christian and turned away from commercial photography at the pinnacle of her career. For the last 20 years, she has devoted her life to spread the Message of Christ through her photographic Angel Series: God's Messengers.
From the Angel Series, she considers the photograph "Freedom" her most heartfelt expression. It conveys her gratitude to American soldiers for their sacrifices, including those who gave their lives freeing Kerry's homeland, Denmark, and all of Europe from Nazi occupation. This photograph also expresses her tremendous gratitude to America's first responders, firefighters, police officers, and National Guardsmen.
"Freedom" was selected by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in 2002 to hang in a prominent position in the Pentagon as part of the public tour. This same photograph now hanging at Camp Pendleton.
In 2014, Dr. Donald Lawrence Jolly-Gabriel arranged for the presentation of two Angel Series photographs, "Divine Presence" and "Serenity", to His Holiness Pope Francis to hang in the Vatican. In 2016 Dr. Jolly-Gabriel arranged for "Freedom" to be presented to His Holiness Pope Francis to commemorate his visit to 9/11 Ground Zero in New York City.
Kerry's 20-year body of work of angelic compositions is an inspiration to all who see them. They are an expression of God's Grace, Compassion, and Love for us all.
