Egija was born in Riga, Latvia in 1986, when Latvia was still part of USSR. After the uprising Latvia became an independent European country in 1991 and eventually became part of European Union. At school, in Riga Egija participated in regular local and regional art competitions and gained local recognition as young and talented, motivated and original artist. Later she completed her foundation in art and design at City & Guilds of London Art School. In this course Egija studied design, life drawing, sculpture, jewelry making, painting and 3D. After finishing her one year foundation course she got accepted in 3 year bachelors program in sculpture courses in City & Guilds of London Art School and Central Saint Martin ‘s School of art & Design. She continued her art studies in Central Saint Martin ‘s School of Art and Design while exhibiting and selling her art in London mostly focusing on wire sculpture and black and white photography.
Now Egija lives and works in Laguna Beach, California, United States. She works mostly on paintings and her art deals with a lot of personal emotions ,reflecting on the society and people around her.
