ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Native Southern Californian, Ronnie St. Jean uses representational techniques and blends them with the surreal surf and skate scene indigenous of southern California. ‘Ready made’ or ‘Found art’ masks the underlying social commentary found within his works with a focus on environmental activism. His works lean towards the conceptual, leaving the viewer searching for deeper meaning. Adding messages of environmental activism is a common theme in his work. Wether a city scape, landscape, abstract or any theme he paints, dramatic use of light is often the source of inspiration for his work, always aiming to ‘paint the light’.
