ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Cynthia Holien
I am an abstract artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I paint with acrylics on a variety of surfaces. My belief is that art is what makes a home more human. Art can enhance our lives, show our personalities, evoke thoughts and emotions, and improve our well-being.
Because of this unpredictable and scary time of the Pandemic, I think we all are having a deeper appreciation of our homes. Our homes have become even more of our sanctuaries and refuge. It is a place where we want to feel safe, content, and comforted. I believe that meaningful art can help our feelings of well-being. It is my desire to bring value and meaning into your life with my paintings.
Growing up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, I have always had a great curiosity and appreciation for art and design. It wasn’t until I reached my middle 50s that I wanted to become an artist.

Although I paint on different types of substrates, I always paint in layers of acrylic. My painting style feels very soothing and free to me.
I recently returned home to the Twin Cities after living in South Dakota for 30+ years. I live with my husband, David, and our dog companion Frances, who inspire and encourage me daily.
