ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The charm imbued in the paintings of these beautiful places is not to be denied but more importantly, these pieces are altars to finding heavenly passion on earth. When COVID hit and the world plunged into an endless cycle of sickness and sadness, the Smith turned her eyes toward Happiness, Color, and Light, as shown through depicting sumptuous fabric, florals, and intimate tablescapes. Using her skills as an interior designer from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her psychology degree from Mount St. Mary’s University, the artist brings a unique perspective of design awareness, texture, and how to engage the deeper needs of the human psyche. Sparkling crystal vases filled with fresh flowers and fine china pour forth from the cornucopia of abundance to refresh the spirit of the viewer. Overflowing with Happiness, Color, and Light, these works have spiritual undertones that exhibit kaleidoscopic altars to la dolce vita - if we only look at life through rose colored glasses.
Charissa Smith works in both acrylic and oil paints - with brushes, palette knives, and impasto to explore composition in lifestyle, nature, and architectural scenes.
