ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I am an artist who paints stories that speak of time, place, and nature. My artwork is a contemporary fiction composed of fragments of thought, place, sight, myth, emotion, and dream. I am primarily a painter, painting large expressive, colorful, imaginary, abstract landscapes, in oil, acrylic and mixed media. Nature is my muse and inspiration.
I also tell stories with my digital mixed media artwork. These stories always start with my large paintings. I use the fragments and details of these paintings in various states of finish and digitally combine and layer them together. These images are printed on watercolor paper and then finished by hand with acrylic paint and acrylic markers.
My artwork in both cases is an attempt to combine all elements into a story that is current yet distant. A story that is within our grasp yet not. It is an attempt to capture the elusiveness of time and nature and give form to the ephemeral.
I have a BFA, MA, and MFA in Painting. My artwork has been exhibited in numerous juried shows and galleries in California, New Jersey, New York, and Idaho. My paintings and digital landscapes are composed from the memories and travels to California, the Pacific Northwest, the East Coast, and the Northwest.
