Julie Mantis is a Los Angeles based artist who creates artcelebrating the beauty of everyday life. Born in New York City, Julie was the daughter of a naval officer. As a “Navy brat” she spent her childhood traveling and was inspired to sketch what she saw of the world around her from an early age. Julie’s passion for travel and learning about other cultures, art, and architecture has led her to explore destinations at home and abroad over the years. Julie remains captivated by the life she sees around her – wherever she is – and is continually inspired to create art.
Julie studied visual arts at New York University and was a graphic artist in the pre-digital era. Raising a family and working full-time kepther busy, yet Julie has continued to make art that delights and inspires all those around her. In fact, two of her daughters have become successful artists in their own right. After moving from the east coast to Los Angeles in the mid-90’s, Julie continued her art education, including the Pasadena Art Center.
Julie primarily works in oils and pen & ink. As it has throughout her life, the artwork she is creating today represents Julie’s belief that “beauty is everywhere.”
