Description - This was taken at Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach and it was taken at night. My dad built a custom lighting rig for our water housing that allows us to shoot in the dark after sunset. Shooting in the ocean in the dark is an insane rush. It is like sitting on the train tracks trying to guess when the train is going to come. You can only see about 10 feet in front of you so it really is a balance of timing and patience to get these shots. The hope is always to get a good shot so that it is at least worth it when you inevitably get worked! I have spent enough time in the ocean to know that a huge wave rarely comes without being part of a set...so it is always a thrill to guess when the next one is coming and how many there will be.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
"Kevin is a local Orange County artist that loves surfing and being in the water as much as possible. Prior to finding ocean photography, whenever he was in the water he would see the ocean do something unbelievable...and he always thought to himself, "I wish I captured that on camera!"
So now he does!
Kevin loves photography and he loves the ocean...and he feels very fortunate to live in a place where he gets to experience both as often as possible. When he is not in the water or making photos...he loves spending time with his family at his home in Ladera Ranch."
