ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Nagui Achamallah
My interest in painting developed in college. While in medical school, I joined the independent fine art study program at the University of Alexandria Atelier and participated in several University group shows and competitions to win several scholastic awards.
I had my first Solo show 1973.
After immigrating to the USA, I completed my medical training and practiced in Northern California, while continuing to paint. I currently reside in S. California, and I dedicate most of my time to my art.
I produce about 40 to 50 medium and large size paintings in addition to many small size paintings and drawings each year. My favorite mediums are Acrylics and Oil paint.
My style has evolved over the last 40+ years, but it continues to reflect a Middle Eastern and a South Mediterranean influence. The subjects of my paintings are varied. Many of the paintings depict human figures going about their daily lives, with their joys, fears and struggles. They are captives of time, their instincts, and the reason for their existence.
But I should allow the images to speak for themselves and reveal their own stories.
