Original Art Work
I am an artist from Perth, Western Australia and currently based in Bali, Indonesia where I am working on new collections. I have been exhibiting and taking commissions for over 10 years now including an international show in Dubai in June 2019 followed by a show in Fremantle later that year.
My work is big and colourful, I like to describe the artworks as conversational pieces rather than a glance and walk-by piece of art. I like to use humour and recognisable icons to capture the viewer and the busy-ness draws them in as they then spot new items hidden throughout the piece. The goal with most of my works is for the piece to have the ability to make the viewer laugh and engage in conversation with someone else. My feedback from clients is that the artworks serve as good conversation starters and topic of discussion for dinner parties.
I grew up surrounded by colourful wild art, my mother Jos Myers is a well known Artist in Australia who also loved collecting. The house was like an art gallery, big bright works with rude elements filled every wall and had a strong influence on the type of art I liked. My favourite artists where I draw inspiration are Peter Webb, Reg Mombassa (Mambo), Brett Whiteley, Basquiat, Helen Norton and my mother Jos. Growing up by the beach with a Californian surfer dad I began to tie in coastal elements in my art through signature icons such as beach umbrellas, thongs, palm trees, deck chairs to name a few.
