Jesse's work began as a child consuming large amounts of network television programming and movies. Years later, a lasting desire for a professional creative occupation steered his attention towards Hollywood, California where I assumed an acting career. The combination of these experiences has come to inform his work in other visual mediums. Jesse Owens artistic energy manifested itself in a development known as “Art Cart” in Oceanside, California. A “one-man pop-up gallery”, perched on a concrete divider in the midst of a busy department-store parking lot. The work itself is mostly oil, chalk pastels, and drawing media on a variety of paper. It may be considered figurative expressions within a millennial context. The pop-cultural images he creates are thoughtfully paired with clever titles that continue to beg questions and spark social commentary in the local community and beyond.
