ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Paris Ghassemian
Paris Ghassemian is a contemporary visual artist, whose mediums include photography, video and film. Her vibrant work is character-focused and primarily explores the female body, creating intimate color-scapes that allow it to exist as subject rather than object.
Since receiving her BA from UCLA, the artist has been living in Orange County, California. The beautiful, beachy—and, at times, Stepfordian—scenes of her environment have only heightened her interest in the influence of the body politic over the female subject. Her experiments with color and abstraction in the arena of photography have yielded a medium all her own—wherein the photo performs as painting, mimicking the female body’s own performance.
Most recently, she was on exhibition at the Laguna Art Gallery. Her work has been featured in digital publications such as Selin and Photo Vogue and is enjoyed by her tight-knit social media following on Instagram.
