Recently the focus of my paintings have been inspired by the newfound relationship I have begun to form with the California landscape. When I go hiking I see pops of color, and a harmony with the ecology of the landscape that I want to capture so that others may have a piece of that harmony within their space. I began my journey as an artist 10 years ago and yet know I have so much to explore and discover within my practice. Artists such as Rothko, Gerhard Ritchter, and Frank Stella have always been among my favorites. Although their work is different from my own, their philosophy and intention continue to influence my vision. Ultimately my abstracts are there to provide a connection to nature and encourage the viewers own interpretation of the work.
