ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Mehru Pekus is born in Istanbul 1985. She studied abroad starting from the age of 12 which made a huge impact on her art and silver works. As well being an artist she has been trained as a silversmith in Florence, Italy.
After travelling to the east for yoga training, she started studying Buddha's teaching. Since then her art is hugely affected by the deep philosophy of this teaching. The curved / rounded shapes in her paintings are done while being aware & feeling the breath. These paintings are called "one breath paintings" which are done after meditation practices. The paintings are sometimes done in one breath with one brush stroke and sometimes other kinds of details are added.
Her "one breath" paintings change shape and form and become eyes that reflect words.
Besides "one breath paintings" she is also working on painting, reflecting and understanding bamboo trees.
She paints and lives south coastal region of Turkey but she loves to travel as much as she can.
