Gosia Koscielak

Gosia Koscielak (Małgorzata “Margaret” Kościelak Królikowska) was born in Wrocław, Poland; she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland (MFA'86, MFA'87, Adjunct Professor' 92) and from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago (MFA'94) where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She has been the Artistic Director of the Rekwizytornia Gallery at the Contemporary Theatre in Wroclaw and a Graphic Designer (1987-89). Among the numerous international exhibitions she has curated are: Hommage a Henryk Stazewski in 1989, Transcultural Visions: Polish - American Contemporary Art at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago (2001), the National Museum in Szczecin (2002) Crossmedi- ale, In Transit, and many others. Koscielak has lectured at The Art Institute of Chicago, St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. She has been visiting lecturer at the Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and University of Illinois at Chicago. Gosia Kościelak is a visual artist creating light art, design, and an art curator who has had numerous solo exhibitions at galleries and museums in Poland, Italy, Germany, Greece and the US. She participated in group exhibi- tions in Greece, Holland, Germany, Poland and the US. Her works are in private and public collections worldwide, including Calgary University, Chelm Museum, Center for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko and the Museum of Modern Art in Hunfeld, Germany. She was a Lighting Designer at The Field Museum in Chicago. She created lighting design for the following exhibitions: Origins, January 9, 1999 - May 31, 2000, Sounds from the Vaults, September 4, 1999 - March 5, 2000 part of Millennial

Exhibitions at Chicago's Field Museum among others. She, with her team, was awarded Winner of 2000 AAM Muse Award for Interactive Media. In addition Gosia continues to create her light art and multimedia projects what you can view at the Gosia Koscielak Studio and Gallery website.
