Description: This abstract artwork was constantly changing, with 8 layers evolving into a striking, vibrant and eye-catching work of art. It ended up as a statement piece, representing the “Sinking Islands” of the Pacific Ocean due to inundation. It was created using vibrant Blues, Turquoise and Metallic green, with Purple, Pink and Nickel Azo Gold as contrast.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Wendy Sinclair’s body of work celebrates her love of nature, wildlife and landscape. Her artistic practice is a daily opportunity to experiment and express her creative voice.
She resides in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia and previously lived in Canada and Indonesia. Her travels and experiences in different countries have influenced her creative practice, particularly her use of colour.
“I love to paint with acrylics (often with impasto techniques), acrylic inks, soft pastels and colour and pastel pencils. These media work perfectly with the mixed media projects that I love to undertake. I like to include collage items from nature such as feathers, Paperbark, snakeskin and pressed flowers.I also love to add wildlife in Pastels to my Mixed Media pieces, as they then seem to become one with their colourful background. I enjoy the effects of bold mark-making, which are evident in my abstract pieces. I love bold, vibrant colour and texture, lots of texture!”
Wendy’s work has been shown in many Art Exhibitions in Australia, more recently at the 2020 Twin Rivers Lions Virtual Art Show, where she won a Highly Commended Award for “Barn Owl Incognito”. Wendy was chosen as a Contributing Artist in the July 2018 issue of Colored Pencil Magazine, USA and also appeared in the Capsules “Curatorial Leaders in Contemporary Art 3” book published in July 2021.
