Art and design have always been an integral part of Tina's life — from creative writing, painting, fashion, and sculpture to shaping pottery on the wheel or by hand. She began studying art at an early age, and in high school, she spent countless hours in the ceramics studio. By age 17, she earned the National Scholastic Art Award and a solo exhibit at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, in my hometown of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
At the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, where she earned a B.F.A., where she began to focus on becoming a painter. Based on the works she produced there, she earned a scholarship to the Yale School of Painting in New York City. She finds abstract concepts and the interplay of color, surface, depth and light most engaging to explore, and the color field landscapes of artists like Richard Diebenkorn, David Hockney, and Georgia O’Keefe most directly inspirational.
