A graduate of Columbia University and Univ of Pennsylvania, she has practiced as an architect and taught at the renowned art school Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
In her career as an artist, she focuses on climate change. Much of her art addresses the conflict of the natural world with constructed systems. Aerial view paintings depict rising seas and sinking cities. Many galleries and museums have exhibited her work, including Fisher Museum, Mass Museum of Art, the Slater Museum, Attleboro Museum and Museo de Bellas Artes. She has had solo exhibits in NYC, Los Angeles, and Boston as well as in London, Spain, France and Mexico.
Lisa considers science, art and activism a key part of her practice. She has written articles on environmental art for publications including Hyperallergic and Art NE magazine. She frequently lectures at universities and environmental conferences on how artists interpret climate change and has been a visiting artist at several universities. Recently she was invited by the Courtauld Institute of Art in London to speak at their conference on Art and Climate Change.
She has been awarded art residencies and fellowships at the Studios at Mass MOCA– the largest contemporary art museum in USA, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, Ireland, Artist in Residence at the Revolving Museum and the Bellas Artes in San Miguel Allende, Mexico as well as a fellowship at Chateau La Napoule, France- sponsored by LaNapoule Art Foundation.
Her work and colorful paintings have been featured in publications such as Art Guide magazine, Artscope, the Boston Globe newspaper, NY Times, Miami News Times, and Art F City. In addition, some of her paintings have been featured in Hollywood movies.
