McLean is a multidisciplinary artist who grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is now based out of California. She is an actor, painter, writer, and creative consultant, with an MFA in Shakespeare and Classical Acting from George Washington University and over a decade of professional experience performing, painting, producing, and consulting. She is a self-taught figurative and abstract painter known for her portraits and statement pieces. A storyteller at heart, McLean's paintings are narratives of her own journey and psyche, and influenced by the stories of famous literary heroines. Sensual, spiritual, and greatly inspired by the Hero's Journey, her pieces often follow a protagonist, Every Woman; her birth, suffering, contradictions, growth, lovers, and ultimately, her death. She paints in acrylic, oil, watercolor, and ink.
She has also illustrated two books and painted multiple murals in Washington DC, Richmond VA, and Asheville NC.
