I was born in 1971 in the city of Beirut, Lebanon, I was growing up in a region of the world where Art had a place to exist in this diverse culture. The city of Beirut also had an important role in the Art World of the Middle East. Art became influential to me at a young age, it was a positive way of expressing myself and sharing thoughts with the people close to me. During the civil war in Lebanon, we stayed in different regions of the Middle East. After living four years in the Middle East, we as a family decided to move to Switzerland, Geneva.
During this time period I discovered that soccer was another passion. After moving to Switzerland in 1984, I gained recognition from the national youth soccer team of under the age of 14 and won many trophies and medals at that time. In 1995 after moving to California, San Diego I completed a 4 year Bachelor degree in the area of Fine Arts with a minor in Ceramics at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. I also attended a one year internship at Rhode Island School of Design in Landscape Architecture.
Now being back to Los Angeles I am practicing and creating Art as a full time Artist in the Local Art Communities of Southern California.
I have always had a drive to pursue art as a profession, my Art influences depend also on other artists as Willem de Kooning , Arshile Gorky, Lucian Freud and Gerhardt Richter. The 4 integral qualities that I learned at Otis College of Art and Design during years 1991 to 1995 in the field of Fine Arts were form, space and composition and values of color.
I also fulfilled an internship for one year at Rhode Island School of Design on the subject of Landscape Architecture. Moreover, I have been painting seriously for the past 22 years.
My work in the past 15 years I believe has matured immensely, with several appreciative acceptances from Curators and Gallery Directors in the East Coast. I have exhibited on the East coast of United States, along with exhibitions at the Horton Gallery, Philadelphia.
I have also participated in Juried competitions under jurors as, Susan Mazuoka, Director of Aidekman Arts Center Tufts University, Dana Miller Assistant Curator, Whitney Museum, Dr. Andrea Spaulding Norris, at the Louisiana State University , and Anne Rocheleau, Director of the Rhode Island Foundation Gallery.
Now living in the West Coast I have been notable for selling Art and exhibiting in numerous occasions at the San Diego Art Institute of the Living Artists, Del Mar Art Center, San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care, and Forest and Ocean Gallery in Laguna Beach. I also have attained honorable mentions and awards from various juried competitions as Bonita Museum, North Park Art Festival, La Jolla Art Association, and Escondido Municipal Art Gallery, while simultaneously working as a full time artist at Sea World.
