Music and art have always been my anti-drugs. Sometimes you have to tune out the world and nothing beats a good song blaring in your eardrums. This painting sprang from seeing the oddball bird at Crystal Beach with the strange circle shaped mark on its head. I immediately thought it looked like it was wearing those goofy big headphones that are back in style. Sometimes ideas come in a flash like this one, a stern pelican looking on in disdain while a vivid spooner jams to his tunes. Seems a perfect image to represent the often strained relationship between adults and teens.
Beats is an oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are finished in neutral grey and the canvas is wired and ready to hang.
