Verdigris

Verdigris

November 2, 2017 by JamieEricEisman

Very early morning capture of the marsh near Charleston, South Carolina,
2006

All my work is sold unframed as individual tastes vary. Dimensions are paper sizes and not necessarily the image size. I endeavour to use the maximum area, whilst allowing a border for the matte and my signature. All images are EDITIONS of 250 in all sizes and will be expressed in pencil on lower left as ” 1/250″…..Signature will be to the extreme right. Images are also signed on the back with edition number and the date signed.

I recommend a thick Archival Museum board for the matte and UV Glass.

Images are DIGITAL Giclee, and printed on Epson Legacy Platine or Legacy Etching Cotton Rag. Both substrates are Archivally guaranteed not to fade for 100+ years .

  • : 11"x17",13"x19", 17"x22"
  • : 11x17; $250, 13x19 :$350. 17x22 :$450

Biography
Trained as a painter/printmaker at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and The Philadelphia College of Art.....But fell in with a rebel band of photographers, shooting fashion/advertising and rock bands. Then on a dare, accepted positions at 3 big city hospitals where everything from pathological specimens to surgical procedures and textbooks were given the Eisman treatment. That lasted about 9 years morphing into a position of Media Director for an NGO working in 5 third world countries. The 'adventure years' saw the production of a feature length music video in the Congo during the civil war, and many many other exciting projects of a photo-philanthropic nature. Retirement from a schedule has allowed art to happen..It continues today.
Artist Statement
I learned in art school that it was virtually impossible to draw something from life that was a true and accurate representation. I wrestled with that for a few years until i discovered the camera. Now I try to make my accurate images look more like paintings!! I have endeavored to pay homage to an artistic paradigm in everything i shoot...be it a fatty liver for a Hepatologist doing clinical research or a headshot for an aspiring actor anticipating a big audition. The world is my canvas and i refuse to 'specialise' as so many shooters have been forced to do. My interests are wide ranging and highly eclectic. I shun boundaries and limitations. I shoot what interests me now. I love the new technology and am always experimenting, pushing the envelope...yet my work is conservative in its adherence to the basic rules of composition...classical training shows! I think i am most intrigued by the human body...faces, in particular fascinate me and i can honestly say that obsession has governed many of my life's directions. I guess i fit the criteria of a 'Portrait Artist" but i like to think my work transcends the basic portrait. I seek to establish a connection with my sitter. It's important to me to know as much about the person before me as they are willing to reveal. I was never particularly interested in showing my work, as few among us consider a gallbladder or a photomicrograph, frame-worthy. I am now rethinking everything, but faces and their owners, get my creative juices flowing. I hope to promulgate that mindset in a project i am currently getting off the ground.
