Biography
Emily M. Randolph's one-of-a-kind, fine art mixed-media collection begins with her own unique abstract photography. Emily's work is then printed on DiBond aluminum with UV cured ink or on stretched canvas. She then hand-finishes each piece with varying elements of metal leaf, mica, glass, stone and tile, and seals it with a high-gloss resin. The effect is both glass-like and textured.

This innovative collection captures those special times when the light hits the ocean just right; a coral reef glimmers; the sun sets at that magic hour; the stars are at their brightest; and morning dew glistens on the petal of a flower.

"There is nothing more satisfying to me then capturing a small element and giving it importance - star power, if you will. My new mixed media pieces allow me to combine my love of abstracts, color and shimmer to create exciting works to lift the viewer's spirit."

Emily's greatest influences have been the places she has experienced: the bright blue waters of the Great Barrier Reef and Mediterranean; the vibrance of the Southwest; and the lavish floral displays of the English gardens and markets. Though a lover of both old and new, her contemporary, abstract seascapes, in particular, bring a fresh originality to photography to produce artwork that was actually never captured near water. Water has always been a strong attraction for her, and maybe because she lives in the desert and is also a Pisces, she ‘sees’ seascapes where others may not. Well aware of the irony, she created a ‘beach house in the desert’ - a home with aquatic colors and themes - and continues to look for water in unusual materials to create her soft abstract seascapes.

Emily’s abstract botanicals are also a subject close to her heart. London’s flower stalls, cascading in bountiful blooms in every color, were her constant joy when she lived there for many years. Her home was always filled with flowers by the armfuls to chase away the rain and clouds overhead.

The inception of Emily’s artistic pursuits was a ceramic owl ashtray she created in kindergarten and which won a ribbon at the Bruce Museum of Greenwich, CT. She was forever hooked. Always artistic, Emily honed her creative eye from the moment she discovered photography as a child - always searching for the unique angle or the unseen. Today, her work is collected privately, as well as by art consultants and institutions, and she is represented by Xanadu Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ, and Laguna Art, Laguna Beach, CA. Currently, she has a 40-piece, permanent art installation opening in a residential complex in the June 2016. Emily is also an award-winning author and graphic designer for a children's photo-illustrated book series commissioned by the world-renown Phoenician Resort with which she has an ongoing relationship.

Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, Emily has lived in NYC, London, Hamburg and Frankfurt and is now settled near family in Scottsdale, Arizona with her husband and their three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Emily has an advanced degree in photography, a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College, NY.

Artist Statement
I hum while I shoot; I just get a kick out of capturing the smallest details. But, that's just the beginning. My micro-imagery acts as the canvas upon which I create my mixed media abstract art, transforming minute elements into colorful, larger than life pieces. In particular, I'm drawn to water - perhaps the result of living in the desert. So keen is the pull, I'm constantly seeking to invent imagined worlds and seascapes out of objects that are unrelated to either. Using bold colors and interesting shapes and lines, I strive to create transformative art that will enliven its surrounding environment and lift the spirit.
