From an early age I had a passion and love for the creative arts. The constraints of life we experience force us to imagine, create, and push the boundaries of what we wish to experience in life as represented by art. In art, crossing the boundaries between the practical and impractical is perhaps more simple, if you have the courage to recognize and overcome your own limitations. Spending 6 years in Florence, Italy gave me the time to reflect both internally and externally about my priorities in life and how I wanted to move forward. Whilst being in Florence, I was able to have a constant connection with the historical and cultural context of the city. Realizing this close connection, the many historical sites, and great artworks really triggered my artistic stimulus and my passion for painting.
My love and passion for the arts flourishes when I have the opportunity to express my artistic talents on an open canvas. There is nothing I find more relaxing than the holding of the brush and letting my mind guide me to create something unique to me and to the world. I utilize the mix of strong, vibrant colors and this allows me to express many different and powerful emotions and when one views my paintings it is meant to be not just seen but felt. I use acrylic paint with gel as this texture allows for each message that i try to convey through my paintings to jump off the canvas. My feelings and moods will guide the mix of colors and the temperament of the paintings that i complete. I have always been a very passionate person and my expression of art is no different. My art opens a window to me and each person who gets to view and share in my paintings get to see a piece of me.
As will all artists my art is constantly evolving and my current works are no exception. You can take notice specifically with the background of the paintings and how they rhythmically spell the pictorial space and the colors ignite on the canvas. In doing so this creates a marked suggestion of the images that acquire a spatiality ever-evolving that translates the deepest instance of the need to be able to reach higher levels aesthetic of expressive qualities. When my artwork is viewed up close the layers of colors have seem to have no apparent purpose or reason but the more distance and perspective you attain from the canvas you begin to understand and see the depths of the shape, message and idea I try to portray unfold. For me, it is simply a technique that has come natural and one I am constantly developing with each painting. The intention is to give the viewer of my artwork a unique and emotional experience allowing for a connection to be made between the artwork and their own emotions.
My desire to consistently push the boundaries of my creative spirit has led me to explore the abstract in my search for producing what I feel expresses my true nature as an artist.
My art compliments and models my life as I strike a perfect balance that is born from the love of nature, art and family. My paintings are open compositions, textured, burnished, full of charm, and passionate which is the essence of my art.
