Painter, singer and designer, Michael Houghton, was born and raised in Elmira, NY where he became involved in the local art and music scene. After moving to NYC, Houghton continued singing in bands and opened for several major national acts including James Brown. Houghton went on to found his own design firm, RPC Fashion, where he dressed rock legends The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and Guns & Roses. His love of music has been a major influence in his paintings and his most recent work, “The Smoking Series” has sold out in galleries in New York City and Los Angeles. Collectors include Tommy Hilfiger, Jennifer Nettles and Keith Richards. Most recently, Houghton is doing a residency in Miami at the Mana Contemporary through the Eileen Kaminsky Foundation where his work will be presented at Art Basel Miami 2016.
